Question
i'm a local youth football coach been it for three years now and i love it. played football in middle school and high school. i have looked at some suggestions and they all say read books get refreshed on techniques i have been doing that for about a year now. the only suggestion i haven't done is asked to be a volunteer i was thinking maybe my old middle school or high school would be a nice place since all my old coaches are still their. after i take this step what other steps as far as degrees and stuff do i need to get thanks marlon

Answer
The biggest step is having experience as a coach.  You have the right idea about, moving up to the Junior high level, even if it is as a volunteer.  In this world today it is hard to get anywhere without knowing someone to help you get there.  If your old coaches are still thier, I would go ask them.  This will at least get your foot in the door and get you considereation for other jobs down the road.  As far as a degrees you dont really need to have any special degree to coach.  But I will say this, getting a teaching degree will help you a great deal in the coaching world!  GOOD LUCK COACH NOEL!!
