Football Trivia (General) - ICE & FREEZER BOWLS

Question
Hello Randy,

In my country, we don't play football. Soccer is the most popular sport here. But I love to watch football because it is, I think, the only sport in which so many strategies are employed and must be executed precisely, otherwise, you'll loose the game.

My question is that during Ice Bowl (1967 NFL Championship Game) and Freezer Bowl (1981 AFC Championship Game), the temperature got so low until, if windchill factor is included, it reached -37 F. According to windchill chart, under this tempreature, frostbite will occur in about 10 MINUTES!

Why then both games were still played full-time? Wasn't there any player got frostbite?? Please give me your explanation.

Thanks

Answer
Several players did get frostbite and Dallas quarterback Don Meredith came down with pneumonia after the game!
The game as played because the NFL does not call off games unless there is lightning or very bad weather that could kill fans or players.

In the Ice Bowl it is said that Packers coach Vince Lombardi cut off the heaters to make the Dallas Cowboys even colder. You can read an article about Lombardi here http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/124837/lombardi_not_just_a_name_on_a_tr...
