You are quite right. The biggest complaint from fans was that the games were running past midnight a great deal of time and who frankly wants to be up until the next morning to watch a football game especially if one has to go to work? The experiment didn't last because fans in other cities who were in other times zones began to complain and ratings suffered in those areas. Hard to watch football out west when you are coming home from work and the game has already started so ABC in the hope of "ramping" up their ratings went back to the more conventional 9pm start where it stands today.
