Question Hi Steve, thanks by the way on the great help the other day with my question, anyway, i got to thinking about another burning question i have had, what is the most points ever scored in an nfl game?, a college game?, and what was the worst a team got beat in the nfl? and college?
Answer Hi Mark,
Just by circumstance, the answer to both college questions is the same, as is the answer to both NFL questions. In the NFL the most points scored in one game is 73 by the Chicago Bears. The Bears beat the Washington Redskins 73-0 in, of all things, the 1940 NFL championship game. If you are looking only for regular season answers, the Redskins scored the most points in beating the Giants 72-41 in 1966 and the biggest margin of victory belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles who beat the defunct Cincinnat Reds 64-0 in 1934.
As far as college goes, Georgia Tech beat Cumberland College 222-0 in a 1916 game. The most interesting fact about the game is that the coach of Georgia Tech was John Heisman of Heisman Trophy fame.
