Question Hello i have a 1986 F 150 302FI
It starts running rich just out of the blue. just for a min. then runs fine you can stop at a light hit the gas it will die it will fire back up and idle hit the gas and dies blowing black smoke. some times it will do it going down the road. Thank you
Answer Martan it sounds like a problem with the ECT sensors on some of these what they would do is go in to close loop and the comp. thinks it is cold so it makes the eng. run rich and what happens when you are at an idle and so much fuel is injected it will stall and run rich. ECt is your comp. coolant temp sensor.have your comp tested and see what codes are present.let me know
