Question i have an 1989 mustang 5.0 with an automatic od transmission. while the car is in overdrive and i start to go up an incline i can feel slight jump in the car sometimes it will do it once sometimes two or three times i recently had the trans fluid changed and had new plugs wires and a new distributor cap and rotor installed i just wondered if my trans is starting to go out or if if it is something else. i also wondered about my fuel pump it makes strange noises when it is very low on gas especially when i let it run out once
Answer Donald,
Your transmission could be slipping into overdrive. As far as your fuel pump goes, if it does it mainly on up hills, that could mainly be the cause of your problem. You can have a scan tool put on your vehicle to tell whether or not this is the problem with the transmission. You can go to your local Auto Zone or Advanced Auto and have them do this for you for free (a $100 dollar savings for you). Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
