Question
QUESTION: i have a 85 f150 (302 engine 2 barrel carb) that i am having some trouble with, when it is cold out it is difficult to start and needs 10 min to run smooth, but the main probem is when it runs smooth and is in park i can rev the engine into very high rpm's, but as soon as i put it in drive and try to accelerate fast it hesitates for a sec then chugs a few times and the rpm plummet and it almost stalls... i have also noticed that when i am in drive and switch to reverse or vice versa it hesitates and the engine reves a bit then drops into gear... any ideas on what is wrong?  it has a new fuel filter and air filter on it, spark plugs and wires seem to be ok

ANSWER: have you ck the choke settings it sounds like it is ether getting stuck or not opening up .is this and ele. or a manual choke

QUESTION: was a automatic choke but was converted into a manual one

Answer
ok first thing ck the fuel psi you should have 32 to 34 psi with key on eng off.also ck the map sensor we have replace these many times for hard start black smoke and stalling.the ele. choke is far better then the manual one so i would put it back to that if you could.let me know.
