Ford - Engine Swap

Expert: Dusty Granata - 6/24/2009

Question
I would like to know if i can swap a 4.6 F150 2006 with a 1991 5.0 Mustang.
I would like to put the 5.0 mustang motor into the 2006 F150 if that is possible. But i don't know it will bolt up.
I would appreciate any help you can give on the matter.
Thanks

Answer
it can be done, but you are looking at a LOT of work and fabrication, the 5.0 and the DOHC 4.6 are completely different design blocks, so everything from the motor mounts the transmission would not line up. also the PCM (power train control Module-AKA the computer) is different as is the wiring harness. it is possible, but it will be a long and difficult process. i would leave the engines where they are as the are both in roughly the same horse power range and both have good torque.
