You need to check which type of air filter housing you have. I have a 95 Explorer 4 wheel drive and all I have to do is pull back on a clip, tug open the housing (it can sometimes be a bit tough) and remove the old filter. Then insert the new filter and close the clip and that is it. The instructions that Ken gave are for a different kind of housing,
