Subject: 96 ford contour transmission problem

Question
My 96 ford contour is having some odd transmission problems. When I'm going down the road it will surge, like the transmission is slipping. This only happens at road speeds. Occasionally the overdrive light will flash on and off. But this doesn't occur every time it slips. I don't know if it's a problem with the transmission (which seems to work fine at low speeds) or some control module that is causing the problem. Any advice you could give me is appreciated.

Answer
these vehicles are electronically controlled so without checking i wouldn't-has it been serviced regular (transmission i mean)-it would be best to have it checked because you can throw a lot of money at it guessing and never get it right then that money is wasted-sorry i couldn't be of more help but without equipment to test it anything is just a quess.
