Ford Repair - 94 ford explorer problem

Expert: James - 6/12/2009

Question
Hi i got a 94 ford explorer and it just start having problems with when u hit the gas its like it floods out and it stalls i cant get it to go more then 15 mph when it happens and i was told to check the catalytic converter and that was fine i think it could be a sensor but im not really good with cars and it was a pretty fast onset also changed the fuel filter and checked fuel pump and the pump works fine. its been like this for 3 days now do u have any idea's?

Answer
Retrieve the trouble codes. they will shed some insight into which sensors are giving problems. Any vehicle before 1996 have an OBD-1 computer, and the retrieval port is under the hood. Instructions on the retrieval procedures are posted all over the internet as well as in your vehicle repair manual available at any parts store.
