Ford Repair - 1998 Expedition disengage theft

Expert: Chris - 7/2/2009

Question
My 1998 Expedition runs great with over 250K.  However, in the summer months when it gets above 85 degrees, it wont start.  The THEFT light on the instrument panel blinks & I have to leave the doors open & let it cool sometimes up to 1 hour before it stops blinking & starts. I've had mechanics come look at it & of course, it's never that hot on that day & it starts right up.  Any ideas?  Maybe I should disengage the theft, but how?  Thanks.

Answer
hey there, unfortunatly the anitheft cannot be disabled bery easily. do you have more than one key that you are trying to start this truck up with. if you use a wrong key or an unprogrammed key, the vehicle immobilzer thinks the truck is being stolen, so it will lock you out for a bit. let me know
