About Jordan Francis
Expertise
I can answer any questions regarding 78-93 fox based vehicles. I know everything from electrical, drivetrain, suspension, and special or rare factory options. I am especialy familiar with mustangs built from 1979 to 1982. I can answer any question you may have, and if I do not have an answer I will be sure to find one. I have many brands of repair guides as well as a few shop manuals.

Experience
I am a huge fan of mustang cobras from the years 1980 and 1981. I own two myself and am constantly working on them. One I have gone through compleatly, removing every panel and tracing every wire. I have replaced the engine and trans, rear axel, k-member, all suspension components, and done extensive chassis reinforcement work and a lot of high performance parts installation. The other is an everyday driver and I am always maintaing it and keeping everything in tune. I am here to answer questions about mustangs and ford performance, not tell you why your minivan is smoking when it goes uphill.

Ford Repair - 96 Taurus cooling fans

Expert: Jordan Francis - 4/20/2004

Question
my 96 Taurus cooling fan/fans do not come on when engine gets hot. turn on a/c and both fans run and cool things down. swapped fan relays, now both fans come on when engine gets hot. Also both still come on when a/c turned on. relays are identicle. should I leave as is or replace relays? Thanks for any sugg.

Answer
replace the relays.  It probably doesnt matter if they both come on at the same time, as long as the engine gets cooled down.  The problem is only that the second is a good backup and should be replaced.  Both relays need to be working good.  I dont know how the twin fan setup works as far as when they switch on but im guessing ones a backup fan for when its realy hot.
