Question
First the heater stopped working. replaced the thermostat and still not heating now a day later the speedometer stopped. It won't work you shut off the truck and then it works for a while then stopps again. I was in an accident in January and envolved the front end everything was fixed now I am starting to have different problems like these two this is a 1998 ford exploer xlt

Answer
TERESA

when you say heater stopped do you mean the blower doesnt move or blowing cold air? if its blowing cold air check the radiator hoses. if the hoses are good i would say your heater core is bad.ford is famous for this problem. the speedometer cable could be binding up somewhere from the tranny.if the cable is ok i would check the speedmeter gear located in the tranny.i would say the cable. hope this helps.
