Foreclosure - loan modification

Expert: Dennis Herman - 10/24/2009

Question
we were charged for a loan modification, in order to get fix rate, from our arm rate. to an attorney,it has been six months and all we had is a similar arm modification. we have not paid our mortgage for six months, so we are in foreclosure. What choices do we have to recover our funds and to proceed with our loan modification.

Answer
Always deal with Internet sites ending in .gov such as the HUD site.

http://portal.hud.gov/portal/page/portal/HUD/topics/avoiding_foreclosure

There are too many people out there trying to make a living from taking the money of those who can not even may the mortgage.

Consult you attorney.  Check the above site to see if they can offer an ARM.  I have not heard of that.  Look out for up front fees.  Check you local city site for local agencies to help with foreclosure problems.

If you suspect any foul play, file a complaint with the state banking commissioner.
