Question I am in a situation where my home has been foreclosed on via sheriff sale. I am in Michigan and I have a 6 month reconciliation period before they can boot me out. During this period, should I be maintaining the homeowners insurance I had on the property or can I change it to just renter's insurance? I assume that would be significantly cheaper. Thanks!
Answer The redemption period give you time to work out a solution with the lender. If you initiate the process the lender has government programs available to help out in a situation like this.
As far as the insurance goes, talk to your insurance company to find out what type of coverage you need.
