Subject: i REALLY want to go on foreign exchange...but i dont hav enough $$

Question
Recently, foreign exchange students came to my high school from Chile and I made some really close friends with them. Their foreign exchange coordinator said to invite anyone from my school who wants to come, even if they weren't a host. My only problem is finances. I will have to pay for airfare and I have to pay the family an amount per week to defray their costs. I REALLYREALLYREALLY want to go, but my financial issues are holding me back. Is there a way I can apply for a scholarship or receive a grant or something so I will be able to go???

Thanks!

Answer
I only know of scholarships from specific exchange programs. I have never head of a program where you have to pay the family. If it is not through a reputable company, I woulden't go anyway. If it is, then they have scholarships and financial aid. It might be worth checking out other companies and asking if you can be sent to a particular part of Chile, if it means you can get a scholarship.
