Question
Hello Carla, I'm back!:) Hope youre doing fine and healthy. I'm trying to make an application where I can access the program thru the other machine using map drive. On the machine where I have my application installed I have a program that can get the Computer hostname in the ini form and it works fine but when I access to the other machine, I have a blank output of the computer name I'm using. can you give me a code that whenever any pc get access to my main machine its localhost or computer name is displayed or logged?

Thanks and More Power to you,

Answer
Hi Joseph,

I'm trying to make an application where I can access the program thru the other machine using map drive.

> You can only do this for a shared folder and you must have the full path. The data can be viewed this way, but you can not run any programs on the remote machine.

for example:
use NetworkComputerName.Domain.comMyProgramFoldertable.dbf in 0

On the machine where I have my application installed I have a program that can get the Computer hostname in the ini form and it works fine but when I access to the other machine, I have a blank output of the computer name I'm using.

> Windows Security Management will not allow you to do this

can you give me a code that whenever any pc get access to my main machine its localhost or computer name is displayed or logged?

It sounds like you are trying to simulate IIS. You might find it easier to use IIS on your host machine.

Hope this helps,

I can answer most general questions regarding Visual FoxPro. I am also very good with WSH, WMI,and FSO scripting and most internet technologies. I like to answer questions. To me there is no such thing as a dumb question. Don't be afraid to ask me anything about FoxPro or Visual FoxPro. I will try to answer all questions as quickly as I can. It may take me a day or longer for a complex error or one that is hard to reproduce. Please include the version of FoxPro you are using.
