Question hello... as a young boy i was always told i was related to general james wolfe. is there an easy way to find out if this is true
Answer How interesting! You do realize, I hope, that General Wolfe is not exactly a beloved figure in French-Canadian history ;)
There's no quick way I can think of, unless someone has already done the work for you. With Gen. Wolfe being a rather famous historical figure, the possibility does exist. You may want to check university libraries for any publications to that effect.
Genealogy is not my main area of expertise, only an area of interest, but having done some genealogical research, I would suggest that you start by speaking with your older relatives and trying to retrace as many of your ancestors as possible.
Next, you may consider contacting your your local genealogical society to find out where to begin looking.
You might also want to read a biography of James Wolfe, to learn about his family life, which may help you retrace his succession.
