French Horn/F.E. Olds single horn

Question
I have a F.E. Olds single F horn that came with what I assume is an E-flat crook. The serial number is 300257. The only thing engraved on the bell is "F.E. Olds and Son Fullerton Calif." The lacquer is pretty worn but the horn otherwise is in great shape and plays well. Any thought on the value? Thank you!

Answer
Hi, the serial would date it to 1959, so it's survived well... Single horns aren't the most popular instruments in the US at the moment, a lot of students seem to start on a double straight away. And there are an awful lot around, so prices tend to be low. Generally they're in the $200-300 region, sometimes even less.

Hope this helps
