Question
I have come across a french horn.  It is engraved with "American Standard Made by the HN White Co, Cleveland O".  It's seriel# is 25251, it also is stamped A.H.S.-41.  Does anyone know what year it was made.  And can you recommend a company to clean up/ restore it?  Thanks. It is silver.

Answer
Hi, there's info on these instruments here:

http://www.hnwhite.com/Cleveland%20instruments.htm#American

there are even catalogue pictures, and the serial list would date it roughly to 1934 or 1935.

Is it a real french horn (rotary valves) or a marching french horn (pistons) ? If in doubt as to the excat type, send me a picture.

The AHS stamp is probably from whatever High School owned it.
