Question
Hello:

Can you translate the following into English?

Chantiers Aéro-Maritimes de la Seine

It pertains to a French aircraft manufacturer company.

i thank you for your reply

Answer
Hello Kenneth.

Chantiers is a name, like Willard or Jones.  Unfortunately I don't know what the name would translate into for English.  Aéro refers to aircraft and aeronautics in general.  Maritime refers to sea faring vessels, so the two together is something like air-ship or air-boat.  The Seine is a river in France.  I don't know its significance in this name.  Perhaps the home office is on the Seine or the founders of the company lived near it.  You would need to research the history of the company for a better answer.  I am sorry.

I hope this helps.

Expertise

I can answer questions relating to grammar, spelling, vocabulary, but not pronunciation. Pronunciation is too difficult to write out to be meaningful. If you are looking to learn the accent of the language, you must hear the language - and there are many websites that allow you to listen to native speakers.

Experience

I grew up in a French speaking family. My father is French-Canadian born. I majored in Languages at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and Classics at Roger Williams University. In both cases my concentration was on the French language.
