About Christy Expertise I can answer some questions regarding freshwater fish ranging from their care to diagnosing common diseases or problems with the fish. I can also answer questions regarding the care and maintenance of an aquarium. I haven't had much luck with live plants, so can't help in that area very much. Not real good with explaining salt water or brackish set ups too well either. Also regarding goldfish, I have some comets, and have a little experience with them but mostly just general info on them. I AM NOT THAT FAMILIAR WITH ANY OF THE FANCY VARIETIES OF GOLDFISH. YOU MIGHT BE BETTER DIRECTING THOSE QUERIES TO AN EXPERT MORE FAMILIAR WITH THEM. If I can't answer or don't know something, I'll let you know, so don't be upset if I reject your question, I'll always explain why. I would just rather not answer then give an answer I'm not confident about.

Question Hi...
I have a male betta in a main tank, it dosn't really look like it's getting on with the other fish, so i want to put him in a smaller tank.
I will put him in a 2.5 gallon tank, put in a bubble stone and a plant, but i don't really want another heater, is that possible? The house tempreture is normally about 18 degrees.
Thanks
Answer Hi Sameem
My apologies for not getting to your question sooner. I've been working a lot these past few weeks....and trying to sleep in between :)
18°C is about 64°F....too too cold for a betta. I would recommend a smaller heater to try to keep the temp up around 24°C. I would look for something like this one:
A regular tank heater for larger tanks will heat your smaller tank way too much, so that's not a good idea to use one of those if that's what you planned on doing.
A bubble stone isn't necessary with a betta, but it will help to turn the water over a bit if you do put a heater in and that will keep the water heated all over instead of just one spot.
