About Michael Freynet
Expertise
I can answer most questions on freshwater aquariums involving the biological cycle, live plants, fish compatibility, stocking quantity, feeding, filtration, aeration, water chemistry, and cleaning. I am still learning about some certain diseases and parasites but am more than willing to research any questions that I do not know.

Experience
I have owned multiple freshwater fish tanks over the years. I also help maintain other people’s freshwater fish tanks. I am currently a college student at Minnesota State University Moorhead for a major in Biology and a minor in Zoology. I'm also currently employed at Petco.

Freshwater Aquarium - Don't KNOW

Question
Hey, Michael! I just got Painted Glass Pet Fish today. The colors are Red, Orange, Green, And Yellow. I'm wondering how to tell which one's a female and a male because I'm trying to breed the painted glass fish. So e-mail me as soon as you have the answer! Thanks!

Answer
Hi Cameron,
The males will have slightly longer fins. Please remember that fish that are dyed or tattooed are not healthy fish as the process is very terrible to them. It is unnatural, painful, and shortens their lives considerably. Do not support the act of that.
