AboutMichael Freynet Expertise I can answer most questions on freshwater aquariums involving the biological cycle, live plants, fish compatibility, stocking quantity, feeding, filtration, aeration, water chemistry, and cleaning. I am still learning about some certain diseases and parasites but am more than willing to research any questions that I do not know.
Experience I have owned multiple freshwater fish tanks over the years. I also help maintain other people’s freshwater fish tanks. I am currently a college student at Minnesota State University Moorhead for a major in Biology and a minor in Zoology. I'm also currently employed at Petco.
10 year old goldfish. 30 gallon tank with 1 shubukin buddy. 1 white raised
bump, looks like a wart. He/she does not act sick. Any ideas. Thanks
Answer Hi Randy,
First off thanks for the pic! Makes my job a lot easier. Unfortunately though I honestly am not sure what that bump is caused from. I will have to guess that it is nothing to worry about very much though. I would just do a 20% water change and add some aquarium salt (1 tsp per 5 gallons) and keep a close eye on it for a few days. If you notice any redness or if the cyst opens up at all double the amount of aquarium salt in there and treat with Melafix for a week. As of right now that's the best advise I can offer you.
