Run the numbers folks! Most dental gold is 18 carat. The present(Jan 2013) price of pure 24-carat gold is roughly $1,650 an ounce, so one ounce of dental gold is worth approximately $1,237.50. A reliable refiner pays 95% of value. One large gold crown can contain a quarter ounce of dental gold--so guess what folks that crown when sold would net $278.44. Some older folks may have several thousand dollars in their mouths. Regardless  of any thought of ethics, Mortuary charges are already extremely high and industry's dodging the issue of residual value in bodies they handle is unacceptable. The caveat of "invading" bodies is a joke - that's what Morticians do!
