Funerals/private land burials/mausoleums

my parents wish to be buried on our family farm in Indiana.  Actual burial appears to be prohibitive due to Indiana funding requirements for a cemetery. I can't find any laws on the use of Mausoleums.  Can they be used legally, what steps do I need to go thruogh to get this set up for them?

It sounds like you've done some research on this, but here is the 2013 Indiana laws concerning burial and cemeteries.

My best advise would be to contact (If you haven't already) the Indiana State Board of Funeral & Cemetery Service  or  Staff Phone Number: (317) 234-3031
Staff Email:  and ask them specifically about this.

Generally speaking, usually you can bury family members on your own property, as long as you register it with the county assessors office that there are human remains buried on the property and/or the speak with the county zoning/planning commission.

I hope this helps,
