GM-GMC - GMC Truck battery

Expert: Alicia Boutwell - 3/17/2008

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2003 GMC Sierra Truck.  Recently while driving my battery light started flashing.  My battery has checked out fine; however, even when the engine is turned off, the light continues to flash.  Got any ideas what's wrong with my truck?

ANSWER: so it never turns off?

normally i would think of these two things.. the alternator itself or the belt is slipping

it could also be the battery cables or ends

have you installed any aftermarket equipment on that vehicle?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The battery light flashes but it's really dim.  Alternator and battery cables/ends are okay.  Five years ago, we had had the truck wired to pull a camper...brakes too.  Two years ago we had XM radio installed. This weekend when I turned on the A/C, in the left vent cool air was coming out but in the right vent hot air was coming out? Do you think it could be computer problems?

Answer
it is possible it also could be the dash board itself. but yes the pcm can be an issue..

have you disconnected the battery and left it off for about 2 hours? if not do that leave the truck battery off for a substantial amount of time and reconnect and start it up and let me know what happens .. that may reset that computer

your pcm is probably still under warranty but in order to replace that you would have to take it to the dealer and verify that is the problem...

does that vehicle have dual climate control?
