GM-GMC - engine temps.

Expert: Alicia Boutwell - 6/2/2008

Question
We have a 1994 RV with a Chevy 454 engine.  What is the normal tempurature range while driving?  And, what temp. inticates overheating?

Answer
about 180 to 220 i would suggest... overheating is hard to say by temp of the engine... but if your indicator on the dash goes above just over half way and stays there while in motion there is a problem... when in motion the guage should drop and stay about the quarter mark..... only time it should go anywhere near half is when idling..
