Question Help...just moved across country and had my baby serviced at the GM dealer before I traveled over 1,000 miles. I turned her on today (70 degrees here) (also she has close to 60,000 miles) and she made a screeching noise from the front towards engine area. After driving for a few moments the engine light turned on and she almost stalled. I hurried home and went to contact a dealer here in Myrtle Beach but they are closed until Monday, this is my only vehicle!!!
Answer Hi
It REALLY sounds like the belt idler pulley MAY be your problem.
It is a fairly common failure.
It COULD also be a water pump, I have heard them make the same noise well similar noise.
I would attempt to find a shop opened Saturday and TRY to get it to them.... call other dealerships... ANY GM dealership will be able to work on your baby, it does not have to be a GMC brand only. Chevy dealership..etc...
Try a Nationwide repair chain....Firestone, Pepboys, Meineke, etc... most will be opened, and SHOULD have the capibilities to assist, if needed.
I REALLY hope this helps, and Good luck with her...
