GMC Repair - 1998 Saturn SL1 Rear Wheel Cylinders

Expert: Tim hagan - 5/15/2009

Question
I just took my saturn in to have it safety checked at my regular garage. The tires just passed the safety so i took the car into a tire place and they told me that that the passenger side wheel cylinder was leaking and would need to be replaced. How can i check this for myself.

Answer
there are two ways to check it
1) you can crawl under the car and look for fluid on the backing plate for the right rear wheel, if there is fluid it is leaking
2) you can remove the right rear brake drum and look for fluid inside the drum and on the brake shoes.
