Expertise
I can answer questions about Peter Gabriel`s musical career from early Genesis days. I know which song is on which album, I can tell which song by a single lyric line. I know much about his tours and other live performances and projects. I also know a bit about his personal life. If should I get a question I can`t answer I know where to get the information.

Experience
I have been a Peter Gabriel fan for over 18 years. I have all of his albums (as well as all the Genesis albums from the PG period). I am a frequent poster on several discussion forums about Peter Gabriel. His music is one of the biggest passions in my life. It is a part of who I am as a person, so naturally I get all the information there is to get about it. I would love to be able to help other people with their questions about him.

Question
Hi,

For a decade I've been trying to understand the foreign lyrics are near the end of "In Your Eyes" from the Secret World Live album. Just got the DVD and the quest is now renewed. I saw a related question posted here in 2001, answered by Jen Christian, but it doesn't have a complete answer for me.

Jen identified the language as Wolof, spoken in Senegal. Can you find the actual phrase they are speaking (in Wolof - I'm sure I can get a translation)?  There must be thousands of other sing-a-long-ers who also want to do this right.

Karl

Answer
Hello Karl!

Am I glad you asked me this question? Err actually; no... ;) Because I've tried to find this out myself and so far I have not been able to find the complete answer. However, some time ago I found these lyrics:

Sabet
Sabet maasi tambay
Sabet
Daaw maasi tiit

They doesn't match completely throughout the song but it's quite close. I haven't been able to get a translation though. I hope this brings you further to the answer.

Kind regards,

Inger
