Question
Is there a translation for the Wolof lyrics in the out-chorus at the end of In Your Eyes?

Answer
Hi Steve -

The Wolof (or Oulof) lyrics are the words sung by Youssou N'Dour in the original version of "In Your Eyes", Wolof is his native language.  A rough transliteration (only an approximation) of those lyrics is: "Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir."

The translation is pretty straight from the chorus: "In your eyes, the light the heat, in your eyes, I am complete"

As a side note, when Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sang part of this in Urdu (Pakistani language) it translated to: "In your eyes there is such a magic, that even without drinking, I can't stand straight."

It's all very romantic if you ask me.

Be well -
Stacey
