Yes, the Peter Gabriel who sang "Imagine" during the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Olympic Games is the same man who was a founding member of the band Genesis and has been working as a solo artist since 1977. Incidentally, he has also written soundtracks for films such as "The Last Temptation of Christ", "Birdy" and "The Rabbit-Proof Fence".
On "Imagine", PG was accompanied by Ged Lynch, a member of his band since 2002, and David Rhodes, who has played guitar on every project PG has done since 1979.
