Question can someone tell me about peter gabriels parents lives and the influence that they had on him? Please I would really like to know. It is urgent!!!
Answer Well, this is a rather open-ended question. There's only a few of bits and pieces of Gabriel's parents in the PG Biography written by Spencer Bright. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, so I'll just toss a few things out:
Gabriel's Dad, an inventor named Ralph invented something called "Dial-a-Programme" which is sort of a very rough early precursor to cable television. The patent ran out just as the concept was taking off, so he never made much money off of it.
Ralph was also into farming (they had a farm which both he and young Peter maintained.) And he was also into yoga before it was the fashionably cool thing to do.
Gabriel's Mom was into music and sang in local clubs and churches. She came from a long line of musicians.
He was inspired in many ways by both of them (he's very inventive and experimental, and obviously very musical.) But at the same time, he went to boarding school for much of his youth, and wasn't living with his parents for most of the time, and moved out when he graduated from Chaterhouse. So, while they had an influence, most of what he is now came from himself. He has a very close relationship with both of his parents to this day.
I hope that helps. Please ask if there's something more specific I can look up for you. I'm curious as to why this is urgent...are you meeting with Gabriel's family soon? :)
