Question
Al:

What is the difference between  a "Turbo" Texas Hold em tournament and one that is not a Turbo. I've seen them listed on line and also listed on Foxwoods Web site listing for daily tournaments.

Thanks,

Bob

Answer
Hi Bob: A "Turbo" tournament (or Sit&Go) is one where the normal blind interval time is cut in half in order to speed up play.  For example, a typical Sit&Go on UltimateBet has blinds that increase every 10 minutes for a normal tournament, but is 5 minutes for a Turbo tournament.  They even have an UltraTurbo where the blinds increase every 2 and a half minutes.

Turbo tournaments speed up the time it takes to run a tournament.  They work well for people (like me) who are crunched for time.  The obvious dawback is that the rapid increasing blinds takes some of the skill out of the equation as everyone gets short stacked quite soon.

Regards/AP
