Question
I have a question about video keno. They say the odds of hitting 7 out of 8 spots is 1 to 6231. Does that mean if a person played the same numbers for 6231 games that the numbers would come up?  thank you, Lin

Answer
Hi Lin,
The short answer is maybe.
Here comes the longer answer!

Regardless of the odds, each spin is independent of the previous (or future) play. That means each time you play, your odds are the same. 1 in 6231.

Then, it gets more complicated.... statistical probabilities.
I'll illustrate with a simple die. There are 6 spots on a die. Your odds of rolling any number is 1 in 6. The die has no brain, doesn't care if it likes you. It just tumbles.

Try rolling the die 60 times, and mark down on a piece of paper how many times you roll each number, 1 through 6. "Statistically" you should roll each number once.  Betcha don't!!

But, roll the die 6 million times, and you will probably be darn close.

All of this means that anyone's experience at a machine is a microcosm, and cannot possibly reflect LONG TERM statistical probabilities.

So, just play for fun, and if you get lucky, you get lucky!
