Question Basically, i put a bet on the golf yesterday that 5 golfers would beat another 5 golfers in the masters. I did this on partybet.
At the end of the night i won the bet and my account had credited with 61 odd dollars from the 3.52 dollar stake i made.
A couple of hours ago i recieved an email from partybets stating "We have made an error, and that A.Scott had beaten J.Furyk"
They then take the money back OUT my account because of this mistake. Are they allowed to do this?
They have payed out so surely they cant take it back, its THEIR ERROR.
Answer Christopher,
Although I am not familiar with the policy and procedures of that particular site, I can tell you that most, if not all sport books, including the Vegas Books, have written into their rules and policies, that the book will not be held responsible for any errors in postings or record keeping. In other words, they do have the right to correct an error and not pay out the winning amount if in fact there was an error. The fact that they already credited your account and the fact that the money was still in the account, I believe they would have the right to take it back...this I am not absolutely positive, but I know that if you have a phone account at a Las Vegas Book and they detect a mistake, they will take the money back, based on the fact that it was never really your money to begin with.
My suggestion is that you read their policies and procedures thoroughly on this subject, but in my opinion they do have the right to hold that money, just based on the fact that in reality, you never won the bet....sorry.
Hope this helps....if I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to call on me at anytime... For articles and tips on sport betting you can visit my site at: www.tonydiamond.com
