Question
Hi Michael,

I've played blackjack several times, but have been only for fun (well, for money, too!). I'm just wondering if you can give me some tips on playing Blackjack, e.g. any Golden rules?!

I do understand gambling means I have chances to lose, but just hope the winning possibility can be raised with some useful, logical techniques.

Cheers,
William

Answer

Hello William:

Thank you for your query regarding my favorite pastime, Blackjack!
With regard to your question asking for “golden rules”.

I will make a few suggestions to help maximize your winning possibilities. First of all know the game, by this I mean know precisely what you are supposed to do with your hand at all times.  This is done in simplicity by taking with you to the Casino a Strategy Card. Available online and in most Casinos, by the way they are well accepted in most Casinos for player use.  I have been told only once in my entire life to remove it (strategy card) from the Blackjack layout, this was done by a disgruntled Pit Boss because our particular table was running very rich, (profitable) for a lengthy period of time and he was helpless to interact except to attempt to upset us with this ludicrous request to remove a strategy card from the table.  We did so and continued in our success anyway!

Another helpful suggestion would be to survey the casino floor with a relaxing stroll and look for a dealers chip tray that has the appearance of a low count, those chips that are missing have gone somewhere, probably into the possession of some fortunate players pockets!  At the same time, look for players with stacks of chips in front of them, obviously they are winning and hopefully this was done at this particular table.  Smiling faces, low dealer chip counts and lots of player chips on the table are your head start to a successful session.

Another pitfall for the common Blackjack is his/her wager quantum.  As a rule of thumb, the following should be followed.  It's the 30th system.  Which simply means that a player shall bet only 1/30th of his/her bankroll for the day on any given hand.  This theory has been tested and allows for the player to endure a period of continuos losses and still be bankrolled strongly enough to allow a reversal of fortunes to occur. Of course if the shoe becomes unusually rich for the player, by all means press your wager!

I am sending you a link, please copy and paste it into your search browser and take this test as often as possible, once you can do 50 questions and only have 3 or 4 errors you are ready for real money play.  http://www.s-a-g-e.com/blackjack_info/bj_test/Bjtest.html

I hope I have assisted you in some way to better your chances of having a winning session!
Good luck in all your gamming experiences!

Michael,
