Question
Hi there,

For years I've been baffled by the jargon of gambling...i.e. odds, spread, handicapping, etc etc.

Is there a user friendly book or website that I can read to get a basic understanding?  At this point I am unable to discuss the topic at all intelligently.

My primary objective is to learn about sports gambling, but "assume" the lingo of gambling is basically the same.  What do I know? ha

Thanks so much!

Cheri

Answer
Cheri,
For years, I have been baffled by the jargon of people 20 years younger than I am.  And the beat goes on...

Lucky for me, gambling lingo has stayed basically the same over the years.  Not sure why you want to get conversant in the lingo, except maybe you are a finalist on Jeopardy or something. If so, good luck!  Anyway, here are some resources:
http://www.werankcasinos.com/glossary.shtml
http://www.casino-info.com/gambling_tips/glossary_a_b.html
http://sportsgambling.about.com/library/glossary/blglossary.htm

The way All Experts email is set up, I can't tell if I sent you a direct link to those websites. After you check those sites out, you will know what juice and vig and spread and over/under mean.  Good luck!   CJ
