AboutC.J. Expertise If you would like to understand spinning reel slot machines, video poker and multi-line video slot machines, I can help. Can answer most questions on odds, math, trends, myths and realities related to gaming devices at licensed casinos in the US. I have no winning "systems" to offer. Please limit questions to slot machines in licensed casinos. Please do not ask about table games, or how to fix a machine!
Experience Work for a major manufacturer of gaming/slot machines, which are sold strictly to licensed casinos.
Question I follow the experts(L. Fromme,D. Paymar) on basic strategy on bonus poker machines(my favorite) but this year have NOT been lucky.
I ALWAYS check the pay tables BEFORE playing.
THE question...
All things being equal(pay tables), do I have the same chance with the RNG playing in one casino as opposed to another?
Another expert says...every hand in VP is completely NEW, no matter where you play.
I play 90% in ONE place because of the good slot club comps.
I live in Reno and there are six casinoes I move back and forth to play their VP machines.
YOUR OPINION, please.
Thank you.
Answer Gerry,
You are wise to check the paytables before playing. Because, in truth, that is the ONLY difference between poker machines. The RNG in the games are the same. Only the paybacks differ from casino to casino (and sometimes from machine to machine in the same house.)
So, yes, all things being equal, you have the same chance with the RNG in all casinos.
Another thing you can do is look for multi-level progressives, offering progressives on 4 of a kind. Some casinos actually offer the same paytables on progressives and non-progressives, which means the payback % is better on the progressives. A lot of players just assume that because a poker is progressive, that it is tighter. Not always the case!
Aside from that, make sure you play smart for the game you are playing, take advantage of the slot club perks, and
quit when you are ahead, even just for dinner. Or, if you are really down, quit for a while when you hit a 4 of a kind. Sometimes bad luck only seems like it. You may just be playing too long, for the sheer enjoyment of it. (Because it IS fun.) It's important to determine why you are playing. To win, or have fun? You have to quit when you are ahead to win. If you are playing for entertainment, then hitting a 4 of a kind keeps you playing longer. The reality of video poker is: you can't have both in big doses!
