AboutPhillip Boucher Expertise Author of the book, "Slot Machines: Fun Machines or Tax Machines? A Technician Reveals the Truth About One-Armed Bandits", ISBN 1-55270-049-6 published by Productive Publications under the pen name Ian B. Williams. I can answer any question related to the concept, design, marketing, programming, operation, installation, repair, and maintenance of slot machines, video poker machines, and video lottery terminals, and their related equipment and machinery, within the regulated gaming industry. I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS WHATSOEVER RELATED TO THE PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF GAMING MACHINES, INCLUDING QUESTIONS SUCH AS "I JUST BOUGHT A SLOT MACHINE AND IT DOESN'T WORK...". I can help dispel all the myths and misconceptions that have permeated the print and news media about slots over the years. I can also answer questions related to gambling addiction in general and slot machine addiction in particular. Each question will be answered truthfully, without bias, whether the answer is what the questioner wants to hear. I will not propagate the myth that there are secrets to winning or beating slots, because there are none. There are no methods or tricks or other such nonsense that a lot of people think there are. I`m sorry, but reality in regard to slot machines can be a big letdown! I won`t lead anyone on. Want to know the real truth? Just ask. I can also answer general questions related to casinos except for table games.
Experience I have over eleven years experience as a slot machine technician for two major North American casinos, one racetrack slot facility, and am a Certified Gaming Machine Repairperson. I am the author of, (writing as Ian B. Williams), "Slot Machines: Fun Machines or Tax Machines? Please tell me aproximatly what the payout should be for a wheel of fortune double diamond 25 cent three coin play progressive slot machine.
I played three coins and got three double diamonds in a row.
The progressive jackpot was at about $280,000.00
The casino payed me $400.00 which is the payout for a two coin none progressive play.
HELP!!
Answer Karl, paytables for machines are dependent upon the game chip program number, the casino, and the regulating jurisdiction. There can be several dozen or more different payouts available for one game theme. So in that regard there is no way I can know what your casino's Wheel of Fortune game chip program is. You must go by what is displayed on the actual paytable. If the paytable specifically states that three double diamonds on the played payline at three credits pays the progressive amount, then you would win that. However, it sounds like there was an issue and you got paid for another combination. I would need to know a lot more about the discussions you had with the Slot Supervisor/Manager, what you told them, what they told you, etc. One common thing that happens is players think they have played three credits but in actuality only played two. Remember that the number of credits that are played are the players responsibility. Off the top of my head I would say this is what happened. You may have thought you played three credits but only two were registered. It is imperative that you don't push any buttons unless you can absolutely see that three credits are registered. If you put in three coins, but only two credits show registered, then you should call an attendant. Once you press the spin button, you've committed, whether you wanted to or not. This type of situation happens very often. Remember that the machine keeps a log of games played so they can be called up if necessary. I assume they should you the last game it showed two coins played. All I can say is always make sure you have the number of credits you want registered before you pull that handle. Hope this helped a bit. Ian
