About John Bergman Expertise I can answer all questions on game shows, hosts, rules and history of those fantastic game shows from the 1950`s to today.
Experience I'm a game show freak and I have invented about three to four games that can be easily turned into game shows.
Question My wife and I have been racking our brains trying to remember a game show that we think aired sometime in the 1975-1985 range. However, we can only remember two elements of it. The first is a booth that the contestant got in and tried to grab the cash that swirled around him. The second is a tree that had cash instead of leaves that spun around while the contestant tried to pick the bills off it. We at least think these are from the same show, but cannot think of the name of the show, the host, or the rest of the rules. Can you help? Thank you in advance.
Answer Dear Herb:
Involving what you told me, I can tell you that actually these came from two TV game shows, prefertably around the 1975 era.
The first involving the booth was from a syndicated game show called The Diamond Head Game. It was hosted by Bob Eubanks and the booth was the bonus game where the winning contestant got in the booth and picked up as many bills and or slips of paper with prizes on them. If you wan the rest of the rules involving the whole game, you can email me again.
The second one involving the tree was part of the three games of the revamped version of Name That Tune, hosted by Tom Kennedy. In that part, the contestant had to identify a song while the his/her opponent picked money bills from a tree. The longer it took to identify the song, the more money the other contestant won. This was soon replaced with Melody Roulette, the one with the wheel, if you remember.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to ask me more if you want more info.
