About Randall Buie Expertise I have watched game shows since the early 60s. I have an extensive library of videos of game shows that span What`s My Line (1952) to Greed (1999). I also have access to reference books which can answer questions such as hosts, network airings, time span, synopsis of shows, etc.
Question I was wondering if you knew anything about a kid's game show call 'fun house'. it had twin cheerleaders on it and had kids answering question to run thru a 'fun house' tp gather tags for prizes. any info on this show would really be helpful, and i would like to know if there is anyplace that i can get copies of this show--thanks for any help!!
Answer Hi and thanks for the question.
Well, I wasn't familiar with the show, but I have found an entry in my Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows, that I will parapharse for you.
Fun House was a syndicated program that was broadcast from Sept 1988 to Sept 1990. It also had a run on Fox Saturday mornings from Sept 1990 to April 1991. The announcers were Tiny and Michael Chambers, the cheerleaders were Jacqueline and Samantha Forrest. The host was JD Roth.
Two teams, ages 9 to 13, competed in physical stunts and answered trivia questions. The teams (red and orange) consisted of a boy and girl who participated in games of skill. The winning team received 25 points and could make an additional 25 by answering a trivia question.
Most of the stunts were messy ("Fill the Cavity" Alien Faces" "Alien Faces" etc). Both teams competed in the Fun House Grand Prix, a catch up round around a track in vehicles ranging from giant vacuum cleaners to sandwiches on wheels.
The team with the highest point value got to go to the Fun House. The team had 2 minutes to grab prize tags scattered throughout an obsticle course. One player had to grab three tags before his partner got a chance. If either selected the predetermined "Power Prize" both won a grand prize to an exotic locale.
Finding episodes of game shows is very difficult. If the cable network Game Show Network is not broadcasting them (they do not show Fun House) your next source is the collectors' market. Type in "Fun House" VHS (be sure to use the quotation marks) in the eBay search engine (www.ebay.com) to see if anyone has some episodes for sale. You can also use a search engine such as google to see if there are any fan based web sites based on the show. Most people who maintain web sites such as this usually have a collection of the shows' episodes.
Please pardon any misspellings. Allexperts has no spell check.
