About Randall Buie
Expertise
I have watched game shows since the early 60s. I have an extensive library of videos of game shows that span What`s My Line (1952) to Greed (1999). I also have access to reference books which can answer questions such as hosts, network airings, time span, synopsis of shows, etc.

Question
Hello Mr. Buie,

I am in search of the Newlywed Game tape that was filmed on August 16, 1977.  My parents were on that show and I would like get it for their anniversary in March.  I have exhausted other searchs to find who could sell me a copy.  Any ideas?

Thank you for your time,
Tama Matthews

Answer
Hi and thanks for the question.

I'm afraid that trying to acquire a specific episode of a game show is next to impossible. However there are several avenues you can try.

First go to www.google.com and click on the "Groups" tab. This is an electronic bulletin board where many discussion groups meet. When you are at Groups type "game shows" in the search engine. You will be directed to the game show board. This is a very active board with more than 200 posts per day. Put your request there and maybe some of the game show fans will have that episode.

Game Show Network currently has the rights to the Newleywed Game reruns. You could visit their site at www.gameshownetwork.com and send an email to them. Be as specific as you possibly can about when the show was aired, who else was on, etc. If they can't get you a copy, maybe they can tell you when they will air the episode.

The last area is a bit of a stretch, but it's free. Go to www.ewanted.com and place a request. Ewanted works like a "reverse auction" site. You tell sellers what you want to buy and they make offers to you. For something this specific, it may not work, but it's free and worth a try.

Good luck in your quest.

Randall
