Garage Doors/Garage door weight

I am replacing both torquemaster plus springs that broke and cannot find out how much my garage door weighs. All the door says is that it's a Wayne dalton model 13990 and 9005. There is no sticker on the tube that holds the springs either. I don't have as scale to weigh it. All I need is the weight to order the springs. Door is 7x18. Please help.

HI Dusten,

Your model # doesn't jive with anything. My professional opinion to you is, the torquemaster system is JUNK. You should contact your local IDEA ( and have it converted to a true torsion spring assembly. A torsion spring assembly works better and last's longer than the torque-master system. I also never recommend for a homeowner to fool with any type of spring assembly as they are very dangerous.

That all having been said, If you can take a picture inside and out and give me a good description of the door I can get you the weight. I just remembered, the shaft that encases the springs should have a tag on it that says the model of door and weight, at least they used to. Hope this helps,

I will not answer questions about garage door openers 20 years old or older as they are unsafe, PURCHASE A NEW ONE. How many cell phones have you owned in 20 years? I have 40 years in the garage door industry and have seen almost everything. I sat on the Wayne/Dalton dealers board in 1986,1987,and 1988. I am on the IDEA board of directors ( and am accredited by same. I will, to the best of my ability answer your questions on doors or openers. I will not deal with shinbuster type doors. Replace it if you have one! If your question is about stretch type springs, call an IDEA accredited dealer and have torsion springs installed.
