Question QUESTION: Recently, a hematologist diagnosed me with celiacs. He told me to see a gastroenterologist for management of the disease. I've since learned G.I. doctors do not help with the management of the illness. I'm confused. What type of DR. looks into if proper amounts of vitamins and minerals are being take? I'm really depleted in alot. I know the gluten free diet is mandatory,but who helps with the supplementation? Help Please!
ANSWER: Well a gastroenterologist can help with the diagnosis of celiac, but generally speaking they dont always deal with the supplementation. You may want to see a dietician or nutritionist so that they can help you find different foods as well as supplements to keep your body healthy. I know many people with Celiac, and although it is not easy at first they are soon able to find many foods that they still enjoy that do not contain gluten. Here are some resources
This website is to a grocery store type deal over the web for gluten free foods. I'm not advertising for them just looking for a list of gluten free foods that you can look through. I also eat quite a few things gluten free and I have found that this brand of breads, etc is the best, and tastes the best. It is located in Oregon, but you can order off of the web.

Would you know if ferrous sulfate contains any gluten? I am a celiac trying to restore my iron. Also is tylenol safe and gluten free?

Answer Well I dont know off the top of my head whether they contain gluten, however I found a webiste that lists meds that are gluten free in alphabetical order, and I saw that ferrous sulfate and tylenol were both on the gluten free list.
