About Miranda
Expertise
I can answer most questions pertaining to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis) as well as the medications, surgeries and tests associated with it. I am not a doctor so please don't ask questions that aren't related to this specific area or close to it because it is not my area of expertise.

Experience
I have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease for over five years and have dealt with the disease since I was twelve years old. I have been through every medication, numerous exams as well as surgery. I have also worked at a camp for chronically ill children the past three summers and two of our sessions are Crohn's and Colitis so I am very familiar with both conditions.

Organizations
Crohn's Colitis Foundation of America, IBD Campus Connection

Education/Credentials
I will be finishing up my Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Biology this spring and I am currently applying to nursing schools to become a nurse practitioner.

Question
DOC...HELLLPP!!!

My wife and I have had upset stomachs (diarhea) for four days now. We actually feel alright, we just cant stray more than 10 yards from a bathroom.  We are hungry but have a "just left the buffet feeling", so we are not really eating much.  Have tried immodium to no resolve.  Dont understand how we have that much fluid in our bodies.  help

Answer
Just to clear it up I'm not a doc...just a person with Crohns disease, and quite familiar with all the joys of crazy digestive systems.
It sounds like you may have some sort of bug or food poisoning that is making you feel sick and may be causing your diarriah. If you continue to feel sick you should call your doc so that they can test your stool and see if you have any bugs. Since you are going to the bathroom and losing alot of water and probably electrolytes you need to make sure that you are drinking adequate amounts of water and perhaps drinks like watered down gatorade or pedialyte to keep the electrolytes up and make sure that you dont get dehydrated. You dont want to over do the immodium because it may not be stopping things now, but if you give it enough time it may make it alot worse.

best of luck
