AboutMiranda Expertise I can answer most questions pertaining to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis) as well as the medications, surgeries and tests associated with it. I am not a doctor so please don't ask questions that aren't related to this specific area or close to it because it is not my area of expertise.
Experience I have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease for over five years and have dealt with the disease since I was twelve years old. I have been through every medication, numerous exams as well as surgery. I have also worked at a camp for chronically ill children the past three summers and two of our sessions are Crohn's and Colitis so I am very familiar with both conditions.

Question My wife is on Hyoscyamine for the spasms related to severe IBS. My pharmacist is unable to get it or the name brands any more. Would something substitute for it?-her Dr. can't find anything. Thanks!
Answer I am not sure if your pharmacist has checked it under these names yet: Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Donnamar, Levsin. However if they are unable to find it I encourage you to go to another pharmacy so that she can continue taking the medication that has been working for he IBS cramps. I am not familiar enough with any of the anti-spasmic IBS drugs other than Levsin to really know others that work similarly. At this point she may want to call her doc and ask for a different type or go to another pharmacy, and ask if they have Hycoscyamine.
