Expertise
I can help answer questions about questioning your sexuality, coming out, dealing with homophobic parents, dating the same sex and being in love with your same sex best friend.

Experience
I'm bisexual and I've come out to my friends and family. My father is a homophobic so I understand the hardships in this area. I also have many bisexual and gay friends so I know what its like.

Education/Credentials
I'm currently attending high school.

Gay/Lesbian/Bi Teens - Problems with mom.

Question
Ok so I need some advice on how to deal with my mom. At the begining of this summer she found out I was gay and that my "best friend" was my girlfriend. That night she grounded me for the entire summer. The thing is she doesn't believe it's possible to be gay. She says we're all just perverted people who are in it for the sex. She told me that if I wasn't trying to screw my girlfriend then I wasn't really gay. Well I wasn't trying to have sex with her but I'm not trying to have sex with any guys either. But anyways she kept trying to convince me it's not real and that's not who I am. Now she just pretends like it never happened but I'm still not allowed to hang out with that girl. Who, thanks to what my mom did, has a girlfriend now....and I'm still completly in love with her....
I don't know what to do. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated..

Answer
Hi Tori :)

Thats hard because a lot of people just don't understand. Just tell her how you feel, that you are attracted to girls and its who you are. Or just ignore it, sometimes its hard to convince someone who can't believe in something. Or maybe try to rent a movie with gay people in it like Brokeback Mountain so then maybe she can understand. She might come around if you tell its who you are, she might not.

I hope that helps. Best of luck :)
